My grandmother taught me to dance by placing my feet on hers while holding my hands. “One, two, kick. One, two, kick, ”she told me as she quickly demonstrated how to dance the bachata. I grew up with upbeat music that could move anyone, it was contagious. As I got older, it was finally time for me to get off my grandmother’s feet, but even then she was always my favorite dance partner. Dance connects us the same way music does and it’s something that is close to my heart. This week’s selection of events includes rhythmic dancing, outdoor live music, and plenty of food. If you can’t decide which food truck to choose during CX Summer Nights, I recommend you try Tenoch’s Fish Tacos.

This summer, Cambridge Crossing is hosting a series of free outdoor concerts every third Thursday through September. This week’s outdoor concert will feature Oompa and Latrell James. If the music isn’t enough to woo you, there will also be local beers and food truck choices including Bon Me, The Dining Car, The Pull Up Truck, The Whoo (pie) Wagon, and Tenoch. In order to involve the public in the community, they will also have a lucky wheel that you can pay for prizes. All proceeds from the wheel will be donated to The East End House, a non-profit community center focused on the educational success of young people from underserved communities around Cambridge. If you can’t wait for tonight’s concert, Oompa just released a new song that should help you out. You can listen to it here.
