‘Autism Rocks’ raises awareness of the disease | Allen County

You might notice colorful painted rocks in one of our Johnny Appleseed parks on your next visit, and that’s to raise awareness about autism.

Autism Life Center spent its afternoon at the Teddy Bear Park in Lima for its “Autism Rocks” event. The center had dozens of rocks with their information stuck to the bottom, which people were invited to paint and then hide wherever they wanted.

The point is, hopefully someone will find the rock and learn more about autism after following the information below. This is their third annual autism event, and they’ve seen it grow each year with more and more people wanting to raise awareness.

Tera Viola, Founding Executive Director of Autism Life Center, “It’s amazing. Frankly, it gives me chills. We started our very first year with about 30 people and today we’ve already had at least over 100. It just lets us know we’re doing it. what it takes, that what we do is necessary in the community.

They also organized other arts and crafts activities for families, as well as other local family outreach organizations. To learn more about the Autism Life Center, you can find them on Facebook.
