Kanye West is leaving the 2022 Coachella festival headliner

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has pulled out of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, according to reports from the Los Angeles Times and Billboard.

TMZ first reported on Monday that Ye had decided to withdraw from her headlining performances on April 17 and 24.

Representatives for Ye and festival promoter Goldenvoice did not immediately respond to inquiries from The Desert Sun, which is part of the USA TODAY Network.

Ye’s Instagram post included a screenshot of a headline claiming that Eilish “rejected” Scott with her comment.

“COME BILLIE, WE LOVE YOU, PLEASE EXCLUDE YOURSELF FROM TRAV AND THE FAMILIES OF PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES,” Ye captioned the post. “NOBODY WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TRAV HAD NO IDEA WHEN HE WAS ON STAGE AND WAS VERY HURT BY WHAT HAPPENED.”

The “Donda” rapper added that Scott would be joining him at Coachella, but first demanded an apology. “YES TRAV WILL BE WITH ME AT COACHELLA BUT NOW I NEED BILLIE TO EXCULATE BEFORE I PERFORM,” he wrote.

Eilish later responded and denied Ye’s insinuation. “I literally never said anything about travis,” she commented on Ye’s post. “was just helping out a fan.”

Scott was announced as the headliner for the festival in 2019, which was postponed from April to October 2020 due to COVID-19. A few months later, it was postponed to April 2021 until it was pushed back to 2022. It was not included in the lineup when it was announced in January.

A November petition called for Scott to be removed from the festival after 10 people died in Crowd surge at Astroworld festival in Houston where it was happening. Eight people died on the day of the November 5 event.
