Laurel Arts League to Host 50th Annual Day in the Park Event

PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) – The Laurel Arts League is gearing up for the 50th annual Day in the Park Arts Festival this Saturday, May 7 at Mason Memorial Park.

The day will begin with the 5K run at 8am and the festival will officially kick off an hour later, with over 40 art vendors to delight visitors.

Customers can also take advantage of the Student Art Contest which will feature artwork by students from preschool through high school.

The Laurel Magnet School Choir and Dance Group will showcase their talents at 9 a.m., followed by the Laurel High School Select Choir at 9:15 a.m.

“We’re thrilled to get this back,” said Heather Brown, a member of the Laurel Arts League Promotions Committee. “For the past three years, we have not been able to hold the event due to COVID and rain. But this year is going to be bigger and better than ever. It’s a family tradition, and we hope to continue that and bring the kids and do some of the same arts and crafts that you did back then.

During the festival, children can enjoy a climbing wall, face painting and supervised crafts.
