Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park is showing off his speed painting skills on social media, quickly creating an impressive image of Thor: Ragnarok.
Before Thor: Love and Thunderlongtime Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park has shared an old speed painting of Thor he did for Thor: Ragnarok.
Park posted the speed painting on social media. He created Thor’s haircut avatar from Ragnarok from zero to finish. In the caption, he wrote, “I did this painting on a phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 8) back when Thor: Ragnarok was coming out. This video was shown during the film’s world premiere on the red carpet The paint on the phone was new to me (and difficult due to the small size) but it was fun to play with!”
Park is the Visual Development Supervisor for Marvel Studios, working from Joss Whedon The Avengers. He often shares much of his work on his social media following the release of projects he is involved in. He previously shared the approved design for Shang-Chi, the red and black outfit that Simu Liu wore in the film. His latest collaboration with Marvel includes Thor: Love and Thunderwhich is already setting new benchmarks, having racked up 209 million trailer views in just 24 hours.
Park also expressed his excitement for the fourth Thor movie, calling it “crazy wild” and “like audiences have never seen before.” “There’s going to be a lot more emotion in this movie. And a lot more love. And a lot more thunder. And a lot more Thor, if you’ve seen the pictures,” he said. The two are apparently teased by the former Thor: Love and Thunder poster, which features another change in Thor’s appearance. The Asgardian has obviously lost his old armor and can be seen wearing a Ravager outfit.
As is the case with all concept artists, Park works on several design ideas, tossing around different graphic interpretations of Marvel characters before one is finalized. In the past, Park shared a darker version of Shang-Chi’s armor that was sidelined by its dragon-scale design. Likewise, he shared the more muscular, gladiator look of Thor from Thor: Ragnarok, which was also discontinued. We will discover his contribution to Thor: Love and Thunder in the coming months as advertising for director Taiki Waiti has just begun.
Park is also involved in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Wonders, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 03.
Thor: Love and Thunder go outside in theaters July 8.
