‘Milwaukee’s Biggest Gig’ Exhibit Celebrates Summerfest, Bob Babisch

Summerfest kicks off this week, and this year there’s a new memorabilia exhibit dedicated to the Big Gig. The Milwaukee Artist Resource Network in the Third Ward has memorabilia from different artists over the years, and a special tribute to Bob Babisch, who is stepping down as Vice President of the Milwaukee World Festival. said Babisch. Babisch has some legendary Summerfest acts booked. “What we’re trying to do here is showcase local artists from southeast Wisconsin, and so really, we’re highlighting a different instance of art. That’s the culture that Summerfest brings to our neighborhood,” gallery director Riley Niemack said. There are photo walls of iconic performances including the Rolling Stones, Billie Eilish and the Jonas Brothers. It’s just crazy. There’s a photo of Bieber. How old was he when we made one?” Babisch said. As Babisch moves on, he will never forget the memories. “I hope people in southeast Wisconsin and Milwaukee continue to take this festival in their hearts,” Babisch said. The exhibit is now open to the public for free and will run through July 16. Jason Aldean kicks off the festivities Thursday night at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater during the opening night Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa and the Wu-Tang Clan round out the opening weekend headliners Summerfest runs June 23-25, June 30-July 2, and June 7-9 July.

“Oh, that’s great. That’s fantastic. That’s fantastic. Can I take these mics home when we’re done with them?” said Babisch.

Babisch has some legendary Summerfest acts booked.

“What we’re trying to do here is showcase local artists from southeast Wisconsin, and so really, we’re showcasing a different instance of art. That’s the culture that Summerfest brings to our neighborhood,” said gallery director Riley Niemack.

“These are all people I’ve worked with over the years. I mean, look how young the Jonas Brothers were the first time we did them. It’s just crazy. There’s a picture of Bieber. How old was he when we did one? ” Babisch said.

As Babisch goes on, he will never forget the memories.

“I hope the people of southeast Wisconsin and Milwaukee continue to take this festival to their hearts,” Babisch said.

The exhibition is now open to the public free of charge and will run until July 16.
